TWENTY EIGHT REASONS TO LOVE NASHVILLE

(my personal favorites)

 

1.  Radner Lake:  Beautiful wildlife area surrounding Radner Lake, protected from hunting and fishing.  Miles of trails through the woods and around the lake as well as hillside trails.

2.  Edwin Warner Park – One of two centerpiece parks with miles of paved and unpaved trails through the beautiful hillside country located in the West of Belle Meade area.  625 acres.  Vehicle access to trails prohibited.

3. Percy Warner Park -  2058 acres of wooded hillside with trails throughout, walking paths, equestrian trails, paved roads.  Wildlife and picnic areas.

4.  Tennessee Performing Arts Center – Bringing Broadway shows and quality entertainment from throughout America to Nashville.

5.  Tennessee Repertory Theater.  Outstanding theater with both local and National actors treating Nashville to excellent theater entertainment.

6.  The Nashville Symphony –Presents a series of Pop and Classical symphony presentations  each year.  Opened in September of 2006 the Shimmerhorn Symphony Center, a dazzling state-of-the art concert hall is  the home of the Nashville symphony.

7.  The Nashville Opera Association – Performances and programs include four spectacular opera productions each season.

8.  The Nashville Ballet – A professional ballet company entertains more than 50,000 adults and children annually.

9.  The Frist Center for the Visual Arts – a non profit art exhibition center with approximately 24000 square feet of gallery space which presents  the finest in visual art from local, state and regional artists as well as major U.S. and international exhibitions.

10.  Gaylord Entertainment Center brings entertainers to Nashville such as Cher, Neil Diamond, Tina Turner and many more .  It also is the site for the Nashville Predators and the Nashville Kats.

11.  Cheekwood – Nashville’s Home for  Art and Gardens was once the private home and estate of the Cheek Family.  The 1932 vintage mansion houses a variety of traveling displays.  The gardens extend throughout the 55 acre estate.

12.  The Ryman Auditorium – Original  home of the Grand Ole Opry, is a wonderful venue for National performers as it was in it’s early days.

13.  While there is increased traffic between 7:30 and 8:30 am and between 5:00 and 6:00 in the

                             evenings, Nashville’s traffic situation has been much relieved by the addition of

                            High Occupancy Vehicle lanes.  I-440 is a time-saving connection to getting from

                            one side of town to another.  A well funded Department of Transportation keeps roads

                            in good condition.

14.  The Public Library – With a beautiful new Main library located on Church Street between 6th and 7th. Avenues and twenty branch libraries throughout the city.

15.  There are twenty schools of higher learning in the Nashville area.

16.  There is no state income tax.  (yet)

17. Wonderful and scenic State parks within a two hour drive of Nashville. Many of these include lodging, camping facilities, restraints, golf, boating. All are set against a backdrop of Tennessee natural beauty.

18. Because of the Recording Industry, Nashville is home to many outstanding entertainers. Live performances of music of all types are available on any given night, at many local restraints and clubs. Wherever you go to hear music the quality is incredible.

19. Tennessee Jazz and Blues Society – brings live performances to the lawn of Belle Meade mansion on a number of Sunday evenings through the summer. Music lovers gather with blankets, lawn chairs, dogs, children and picnic baskets to enjoy a delightful evening of music and relaxation.

20. The Tennessee Titans – Bring AFL football excitement that is strongly supported by enthusiastic audiences.

21. The Nashville Predators is the NHL hockey team whose season is October through April.

22. The Nashville Sounds, the AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates bring the Boys of Summer to Nashville’s baseball fans.

23. The Zoo at Grassmere

24. A variety of great golf courses both private and public.

25. Top rated health care at such outstanding medical facilities as Vanderbilt, Baptist, Centennial, and St. Thomas hospitals.

26. Four distinct seasons, that include a breathtaking springtime of color, the greenest of green summers, mild autumn temperatures conducive to enjoying this beautiful state’s natural resources, and a moderate winter with occasional snowfalls.

27. Warm and friendly people. While many of our native young people come back after college to make Nashville their home as adults, we also have a wonderful mix of people from all over the United States and the World who have found Nashville a great place to call home.

28. Is it possible, I almost forgot the GRAND OLD OPRY? This is a radio show to remember. Country favorites and legends appear every weekend.
